VTG 1950’s Fit and Flare Faille Cocktail Dress with Shrug Designer Unknown

This treasure of a cocktail dress is ideal for the spring starlet. Giving us big-time Marilyn Monroe vibes, this approx. circa 1950’s cocktail dress seems to be a custom hand-made piece; an educated guess based on the lack of any labels and very specific measurements. The structure inside is still sound and is a beauty to behold with its neat containment of (likely) light plastic stays. Reinforcement interfacing is laid between the shell and lining of the dress to keep its stunningly pointed sweetheart neckline, giving the front and back bodice a leafy, fairy-esque look. Fabric is some sort of smooth faille, bias-cut, perhaps a polyester synthetic « silk feel ». Matching cardigan is cut from brushed cotton and lined with smooth, comfortable satin. Complete with wide circle skirt made to be filled out with fluffy crinolines in a classic 50’s party style. Bust: 30″Waist: 23″Hip Size: 47″ Shoulder – Hem: 40″Waist – Hem: 30.5″
