This dress is a nice white cotton fabric with a vibrant floral and parrot print in oranges, greens and golds. There is a light dusting of sequins throughout the front of the dress. There is a zip closure in back and the dress is lined. It looks as if the dress was hemmed at one time. Please see photo. This dress is in very nice vintage condition. There is one small blemish near the front hem, but this is barely noticeable. Also might be a few missing sequins, but again, this would be difficult to notice. Smoke free home.

What Diane Likes About This DressThe 80s liked to borrow quite heavily from the 1950s. They especially liked fit & flare style and painterly floral prints. But, as the 80s was fond of doing, they dialed that up several notches. The florals are brighter, bolder and more packed together. The sleeves are puffier. The black background is an 80s theme that added contrast and drama. I like the attached crinoline with the white lace that can peek out under the skirt. The 1950s would never have dared that. Vintage 1940s orange iridescent sleeveless dress. MEASUREMENTS (approximate): Bust – 35″ Waist – 26 1/2″ Hips – free Length – 47″ Lovely gown with a gorgeous shiny color. The skirt is very full. This would be a great piece to wear to a dance. Side metal zipper. Overall good condition with light wear. There are a few small spots by the neck. Some pulls in the material. Some light staining on the skirt. The inner arms and inner collar have some wear (not visible when worn). One side of the bust has some odd creasing. There is a bit of loose stitching on the waist. See photos for condition. A note on vintage clothing: I am not the original owner of these items, therefore I cannot guarantee their history. I am a non-smoker myself, but can’t say the garment has never been around cigarette smoke or moth balls. The belt is included. Label- A unreadable tag at the back neck. A union made label on the skirt Closes with back metal zipper Fabric is a medium weight cotton. It has hand painted flowers. This dress is unlined. I show this dress with a red patent belt. It is not original, but it is included. ConditionThis dress is clean, with no holes or tears. It does have a few issues. The dress fit my mannequin tightly and you can see the zipper has some stress pulling from the dress fitting tightly on a previous owner. You can see when the dress is not being pulled tightly, that the zipper stress pull is not visible. The belt as well covers this area. The zipper had been messed with. It had been taken in and then let back out. It left some seam remainder lines that I show in a photo. The dress has also been shortened. The original hem has been turned up and hand sewn. You can see in the photo, the original factory sewn hem and the hand sewing. You could put this dress back to its original length by removing the hand sewn thread. But, there would be a seam remainder line that would not be ironed out. I show a close up of the hand painted flowers. There is a very little bit of paint loss on some of the flowers, as shown in photo. What Diane Likes About This DressThis is a fun and fanciful dress that does not take itself to seriously. It is a stylish dress, but still down to earth. It has a classic 1950s, full skirt and fitted top design. It is those hand painted flowers that give the dress a lot of interest. They give it a very romantic and artistic feeling.
