Purchased in New Hampshire, USA in the late 1980s, this handmade plaid woven grey silk chiffon overlay is a beautiful piece of fashion history from the 1920s-30s period. The fabric is delicate and has sustained several smaller (approximately 1-1/2” largest) tears, and a couple of the fabric buttons are degraded. Small staining. Sound enough for display, to be used for patterning, in a collection, but not to wear unless repaired and reinforced.

To my eyes,the look is very « old money », preppy, Ivy League and equstrian–very popular in the 1990s. The jacket is fully lined with a beautiful shade of blush. The fit of this longer, 4 button jacket is tailored and close-fitting. There is princess seaming on the back and front. There is very light padding in the shoulders for structure. This 1980s era pull over short sleeve oversized gray shirt is in good vintage condition no major issues or damage other than moderate signs of wearing and wash. Graphic on front is what looks like an iris flower with some sparkly glitter most of which has washed off but graphic is still very much there. Fabric is very lightweight 50-50 cotton blend. Sort of cut like a short sleeve sweatshirt and fabric feels like one that has worn incredibly thin, but with no seams as the body is one piece.
