Bunny loved to lay out in the backyard every summer with baby oil, a transistor radio, and absolutely no intention of coming inside before supper. She insisted a tan made every outfit look more expensive. Whether or not that was true didn’t matter, Bunny believed it, and that was enough. By five o’clock she’d drag the garden hose over and spray herself down before heading inside. The neighbors husband pretended not to watch. Bunny made a point of waving anyway.
