Antique french linen Victorian / Edwardian chemise / nightgown. This piece is in beautiful condition. Made of heavy linen. The sleeves and neckline are finished in scalloped trim. There are two small buttons at the neckline and embroidered monogram J A at the bottom of the button placard. There are also 2 gussets, one at each side seam. The entire piece is finished in french seams. This piece is in very good condition for its age. There are a few very tiny ( pin size rust colored spots) only one very small spot that I could find. Measurements: Center front to hem 39” Underarm to underarm 23” The hem is approximately 70 “ in circumference sleeve 14” circumference
This piece is a beautiful antique cotton dress with impressive lace. Since it is an antique item of clothing, it does have flaws that are pictured above. The front of the skirt also has a yellowish/brownish discolorations in a few areas and a few small holes.

I don’t know whether to call it a cloak or a cape, and it’s hard to find any other words for it too. I don’t know why it was made, except for joy, and I don’t know if it had a use except to wear and be fabulous.
