Women 50s vintage Shimmer Blue Taffeta Cocktail Party dress Small TLC repair B85

Vintage woman’s 1950s era party dress, sleeveless shimmery iridescent taffeta in blue with purple sheen and a floral weave design. It has a built in underskirt. It needs some mending. The zipper is broken, and a shoulder seam is coming loose. Also there is some light staining on the neckline. There is no brand tag, but there is a tag sewn in with a handwritten « 36 » on it which I think is the bust size. I didn’t get a really good measurement of the bust but I think that 34-36 is correct. The shoulder to waist is 14, waist to hem 24, Waist is 24, and shoulder to shoulder is 14.

There may be other minor flaws that I didn’t catch, but she is an absolute beauty. It’s quite heavy. The flowered portion is a thin lightweight silk but the lower tiers are heavier taffeta. 1860’s Black Silk Taffeta And Silk Fringe Cape

This cape is in good condition with only minor age related wear. It is sturdy and could be worn. It does have a hook and eye that would clasp it together but I am not sure what you do with the long streamers in the front. From the neckline of the cape in back to the bottom of the fringe is 17 inches. I measured the top and bottom of the cape including the front streamers. The top is 52 inches around and the bottom is 72 inches long. I wonder if the streamers are suppose to tie in some way. It came with an 1860’s dress I purchased. The dress is not part of the sale.
