This is a stunning two-piece evening ensemble dates to the 1940s – early 1950s, a classic example of Mid-Century cocktail wear designed by Mancini of California. During the 1930s, 1940s, and early 1950s, many iridescent or colored sequins were made from gelatin or casein (a milk-protein plastic) rather than modern synthetic plastics.

The black organza hem has little nicks around the bottom, but are ultra tiny. There are two tiny holes at the top right neck in the organza. What a rare and glorious dress this is! A bit of a wounded bird, but so wonderfully epic!

White & blue floral light-weight cotton dress from the 1950s. A slip was used under three of the four dresses to help show the silhouette—it’s a little long so it peeks out from underneath. Not included or part of the dress—it’s unlined and semi sheer.
Very good condition; we saw one speck on back of collar/neck (see last photo) and the right vent could use a couple of stitches. Appears to be gently worn. Beautifully detailed; great features on the boats and lighthouse, but note that the clouds are also very well done.
