Vintage Deadstock 1950’s Brown Rayon Gabardine Dress With Original Hang Tags Size 2+ Good Condition With Some Moth Damage On The Mohair Collar And Cuffs.

Comprised at least three layers, the top being an orangey brown wool, and the rest linen. Bound with leather along the top and around all around the bottom tabs with wider leather laced through the lacing holes to protect against wear.
This two piece dress made of green velvet and brown silk Faille is such a rich combination. It was created in the late 1880’s or early 1890’s. The skirt is lined in a brown cotton lining and is in good condition. The bodice is made of brown silk with deep green velvet sleeves and black cotton lace. There are a few holes in the lace. The inside lining which is patchwork has some staining and there are two large holes in one of the sleeves. See photo. The bodice has a bust of 34 inches a waist of 21 inches and shoulders of 12 inches. The skirt has a waist of 22 inches and a front length of 43 inches. She was slender and tall.

#25-066, Brown 1870’s – 1880’s Silk Faille Bodice : This bodice was made as part of a bustle dress ensemble. All we have is the bodice and its sleeves have been removed. The fabric is still sturdy.
I can not of course be sure without the feel of fabric, but I also think there is probably a bit of linen in the fabric. The sleeves are not truly fashionable for the 1890’s. This makes sense as fashion books ( the Godeys and Petersons mostly ) did not reach areas past Chicago swiftly.
