Very rare collector’s two piece late 1880’s Victorian era walking suit (skirt and jacket), with a Philadelphia label. Black Silk Taffeta. Both pieces, and the embroidered black silk decorative details on the jacket and skirt are all hand stitched.
Bodice is comprised of a wool outer lay with a silk yoke and lined in polished cotton. The yoke neck closes in back. There is an under layer of the bodice that closed underneath the yoke. The outer pieces of the bodice closes over the yoke.
Jet black corduroy with an arch panel on the back. Large oval silk covered buttons. Three buttons on the front with an offset closure. Pirate style cuffs. Excellent condition no noted flaws. Dry cleaned and never worn, put in storage.

This antique Edwardian era The Redfern C.F. & M. Co. cream tan wool plaid walking suit jacket and skirt dates from 1905. There is an off white cream color fine wool fabric, long floor length full skirt with a wide white petersham ribbon waistband, side hook closures and is unlined.
The skirt is size 6 while the jacket is size 14. The suit has a tailored look and is an original from the 1940s. It is made of wood material and was manufactured in the United States by Edson’s. Gorgeous 1940s era suit is in immaculate condition.

Own a rare piece of late Victorian history: an authentic two-piece tailored walking suit from the late 1890s. Features include a wild mussel shell button, elegant velvet-faced collar, iconic puffy leg-o-mutton sleeves, and a shaped, fitted bodice with slight chest padding.
I do not have family to hand this down to. The small black scarf is very sheer and impressive. Penn State University has only a small portion of it also the county of Krumrine Pennsylvania. My great great grandfather that’s in this photograph is of the family of Krumrine.

DATING TO THE EDWARDIAN ERA. FASHIONED OF A FINE LINEN AND BOTH PIECES ARE UNLINED. FOUR OVERSIZED SHELL BUTTONS CLOSE THE FRONT WITH THREE SHELL BUTTONS ON THE BOTTOM OF EACH SLEEVE. Often for proper fit, hang, and wear ability, pieces will need to be altered and/or adding a hook or snap here or there, with a seam closure or strengthening needed.

This is a jacket made of linen or light wool, I’m sorry I can’t really confirm that. This jacket is dated to the 1890’s. It’s in almost perfect condition. There is a pen mark on the front which I will not attempt to remove.
