Antique Victorian Black Silk Taffeta Bodice 1870s-1890s Collector’s Piece
The silk taffeta fabric — identifiable by its characteristic fine horizontal ribbing and crisp hand — was one of the most fashionable and status-signalling fabrics of the period. The amber/rust cotton lining, the decorative fabric-covered exterior buttons, and the internal snap closures (known in the period as « dress fasteners » or « invisible hooks ») are all consistent with professional dressmaker construction of the 1870s–1890s.

Heavenly heavenly heavenly! An exquisite dressy outfit from Nina Ricci in deep brown silk taffeta with royal purple raised pinstripes- almost like ribbon. Overall, it has a luscious sheen. The maxi skirt is pleated and gathered from the waist and very full – the fabric has great body and hangs beautifully. The blouse is a bit victorian in its look with ruffles around the neck and down the front placket as well as at the bottom of the cuffs. The sleeves are also gathered at the shoulders and wrists, giving them a very feminine appearance. Skinny little tie at center front neck. The stripes are arranged in a very playful contrary pattern; going vertically on the top piece and horizontally on the bottom piece. The condition is excellent. 1940s Full Circle Silk Taffeta Skirt 27″ Waist
Incredibly beautiful and rare 1940s circle skirt. It’s in very good condition for its age with no significant flaws. There is a fray at the waist opening, see photo. There may be other minor flaws that I didn’t catch, but she is an absolute beauty. It’s quite heavy. The flowered portion is a thin lightweight silk but the lower tiers are heavier taffeta. The skirt is a full circle- it’s enormous. Waist-27”Length- 31”

VTG 50s Dynasty Cocktail Dress Black Silk Taffeta Darts Pleated Low Back Size XS Vintage late 1950s or early 1960s, Dynasty made in Hong Kong British Colony, heavy stiff black fabric, short sleeve, darts in bodice, fitted waist, box pleats in skirt, midi/knee length, low back, metal zip closure. Overall good condition. No stains or odors. The right sleeve needs a small repair along the seam & a pinpoint hole near the bottom hem – shown in last 2 pics. I did my best to look over the dress but there may be other flaws due to age. 13” shoulder seam to shoulder seam 17” across chest (flat lay) 12.5” across waist (flat lay) 16” across hips (flat lay) 41” long
1860’s Black Silk Taffeta And Silk Fringe Cape
This cape is in good condition with only minor age related wear. It is sturdy and could be worn. It does have a hook and eye that would clasp it together but I am not sure what you do with the long streamers in the front. From the neckline of the cape in back to the bottom of the fringe is 17 inches. I measured the top and bottom of the cape including the front streamers. The top is 52 inches around and the bottom is 72 inches long. I wonder if the streamers are suppose to tie in some way. It came with an 1860’s dress I purchased. The dress is not part of the sale.
